Card Not Present unveiled the winners of its 2021 CNP Awards yesterday in a virtual celebration that saw 20 high-performing companies take home top honors in 14 categories. The previous year has been one of the most challenging the e-commerce payments and fraud industry has ever faced.
The Covid-19 pandemic and the stay-at-home restrictions that followed in virtually every country around the globe fundamentally altered the environment faced by CNP merchants and the companies that provide technology and services to them. While online verticals like travel & hospitality and event ticketing almost instantly lost all their transaction volume and were crushed by chargebacks stemming from cancelled trips and events, other verticals like online grocery and food delivery instantly boomed, providing ample opportunity for fraudsters to take advantage of huge volumes. Innumerable merchants found themselves setting up online operations for the first time out of a sense of opportunity or survival—many of them unprepared for payments and fraud issues that inevitably come with e-commerce.
Into this breach stepped the technology providers that serve the CNP space. And, as it has for the last decade, CNP is honoring the best of those companies with the CNP Awards. This year, the categories changed slightly. Acknowledging the increasing sophistication of fraud solutions, the Best Antifraud Solution, which last year had two categories (Established and Startup), this year has four: Case Management Solutions, Managed Solutions, Mobile Solutions and Startup.
CNP honored nine providers for the first time in 2021. Two companies picked up three separate awards and two others swept a single category, garnering the Judges Choice (determined by a panel of independent merchant and consultant judges) and Customer Choice (determined by an online vote of users) awards in a single category.
This year, CNP is inviting winners, when they receive their awards in the mail, to shoot a short (30-second) video celebrating their win. Since we couldn’t be together physically for our celebration, we hope to see some really creative videos we can share with the CNP community. We will send out a separate message with instructions on how to upload your video.
